Pilot Employee Assistance Programme with Laya Healthcare through Longford CCC

Recently announced in the Budget 2026 to support welfare and wellness of the early learning and care and school age childcare workforce, a pilot employee assistance programme would be funded in five City/County Childcare Committee areas, Cork City, Cork County, Longford, Meath and Cavan.  Following evaluation of this pilot programme, it is the intention to expand this programme across the sector offering this valuable resource and support to the workforce for times of difficulty both personally and professionally. 

Longford CCC have rolled out this pilot Employee Assistance Programme in Longford to all ELC/SAC providers and their employees.

Laya Healthcare Employee Assistance Programme has been contracted for a 12 month period commencing on the 1st of January 2026.

The Employee Assistance Programme available through Laya Healthcare offers 24/7 freephone in the moment confidential support providers, managers and all service employees.   

The EAP offers:

  • Six (6) conselling sessions per issue per year,
  • Partner/spouse+ dependent over age of 16 supports
  • 35+ languages covered
  • Additional services including: Legal assistance, financial assistance, career guidance, life coaching
  • Critical Incident supports
  • Digital EAP Platform access with Live Chat

Who is eligible to join EAP programme?  Any ELC/SAC service that is operating in Longford County?

Will there be a cost to join? Yes, €20 fee per service to join Pilot EAP programme.  Once ELC/SAC service has join/signed a Service Level Agreement the Longford CCC will invoice the ELC/SAC Provider directly for the one time payment of €20 to join EAP and provide all promotional material for sharing with staff/employees to access programme.
