Today is a great day for Early Years Children, Families, Educators and Childcare Providers in County Longford. Carrieann Belton, Acting Coordinator for Longford County Childcare Committee is delighted to announce that €70,000 early years capital funding has been awarded to Early Years Providers in County Longford. The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr. Katherine Zappone T.D., announced today a total of €6.87m in capital funding to be awarded to providers of Early Years and School Age Childcare across the country. The €6.87m will contribute towards the creation of more than 2000 new childcare places nationwide and funding for outdoor play and essential maintenance for both early years and school age children. The Minister is quoted saying, ‘there was an unprecedented amount of applications this year which shows the appetite for expansion within the sector and that she will continue to seek increased investment in this area in order to increase capacity and deliver the highest quality of childcare for families in Ireland.’ As the children of Longford always say, ‘Bualadh Bos Longford’.
