Breaking Point report

Is a report on sustainability in Community Childcare in urban areas and it was launched on 4th October by Minister Zappone.

At the launch the Minister stated the reports highlights ‘in stark detail the challenges we face to secure Pre-School services for children and families most at risk of poverty. It is alarming that 98% of those community providers who responded to your survey are experiencing financial risk. The average hourly rate of pay of €11.12 is also unacceptable. As is the finding that 58% of childcare workers are part time. These figures are why we must change childcare forever. As Minister with responsibility I am determined to bring about change.’
