Update Applications for Vetting

The National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016 provide a statutory basis for the vetting of persons carrying out relevant work with children or vulnerable persons. The Act also creates offences and penalties for persons who fail to comply with its provisions. The Act stipulates that a relevant organisation shall not permit any person to undertake relevant work or activities on behalf of the organisation, unless the organisation receives a vetting disclosure from the National Vetting Bureau in respect of that person  (An  Garda Síochána, 2016).

Both Barnardos and Early Childhood Ireland continue to assist early years services with the processing of garda vetting.

As part of this process an applicant is required to apply for a Garda National Vetting Bureau Affiliate Registration Number (GNVB).   This will soon be a compulsory requirement by the Garda National Vetting Bureau.  It is important should you be applying for garda vetting that you are aware of this requirement and you allow ample time to apply for same.

Please find below a link to both Barnardos and Early Childhood Ireland with their individual information on this process.
