The Community Childcare Subvention is a programme targeted to support parents on a low income to avail of reduced childcare costs at participating community childcare services. The DCYA pays for a portion of the childcare costs for eligible children, a payment described as a subvention payment, with the parent paying the remainder. CCS(P) is available for 52 weeks of the year. The CCS(P) programme covers the academic year, starting in September and finishing in August. CCS may cater for infant, pre-school and afterschool places.
Last year saw the introduction of the universal subsidy (CCSU).
